Russia will host IPQuorum 2018, International Strategic Forum on Intellectual Property

On April 11-12, 2018, IPQuorum 2018, the International Strategic Forum on Intellectual Property: “Intellectual property as a new hero of the global market and digital economy. Strategy, trends, industries”, will be held under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

The forum is organized by Russian IPChain Association (National Coordination Center for Processing Transactions with Rights and Objects of Intellectual Property) and Confederation of Rightholders’ Societies of Europe and Asia (CRSEA), an international non-governmental organization uniting leading national societies that manage various categories of intellectual property rights in the EAEU, CIS and BRICS countries.

The co-organizers of the forum are the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Government of Kaliningrad region, and Non-commercial organisation Foundation for Development of the Center for Elaboration and Commercialization of New Technologies (Skolkovo Foundation), Federal Intellectual Property Service (Rospatent) and Digital Economy Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization. The event is supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia, the Union of Journalists of Russia and the International Confederation of Journalist Unions.

The forum is designed to become an authoritative platform for developing consolidated proposals and recommendations for the strategic development of intellectual property field as one of the key institutions of the digital economy.

“We are pleased to host IPQuorum 2018,” said Anton Alikhanov, the Governor of Kaliningrad region. “The preferences of our Special Economic Zone and the system of support of science and business created in the region allow to use new ideas and inventions most effectively. Kaliningrad universities and various educational projects enable our young people to realize their full potential in knowledge-intensive fields. I am sure that Kaliningrad region will be able to become a new centre of intellectual property market development, a kind of outpost of the Russian innovation economy in Europe.”

IPQuorum is the first communication platform that will connect market participants and representatives of industries, industry innovators, national and international regulators, major Russian and international venture capital investors.

“We have a common goal – to create and develop a full-fledged market of intellectual property rights in Russia, which has value, is integrated into the global market of rights and unites the national companies into the global market chain of innovative production.” – stressed Igor Drozdov, the Chairman of the Management Board of Skolkovo Foundation. “It is very important that a full-scale discussion takes place at IPQuorum, which will allow to outline specific steps to achieve the set goal. The participation of foreign experts and companies will allow us to establish a constant exchange of experience, to study the best practices and to tell the world community about our achievements.”

About 500 participants from more than 30 countries of the world will discuss the strategies of forming a global intellectual property market at IPQuorum.

Soon, our experts will be working with patent information using artificial intelligence and distributed registry technologies. We will discuss the prospects of using the blockchain in the activities of patent offices at our conference “Digital Transformation: Intellectual Property and Blockchain Technologies” to be held on April 16-17 with the assistance of the World Intellectual Property Organization and BRICS,” said Grigoriy Ivliyev, the head of Rospatent, “IPQuorum 2018 will focus on the strategic aspects of the industry’s development and its impact on various markets and industries, as well as on new tools for managing intellectual property rights. Now they are necessary for the development of creative, scientific and technological potential of Russia. I am sure that the participants of the forum in Kaliningrad will assist in the formation of new approaches to intellectual property protection. It may also become an additional incentive for the development of knowledge-intensive industries, expanding the scope of application of the huge accumulated potential, including MIC.”

The business program includes 12 thematic sessions and 7 hubs of the discussion network. Interstate memoranda on the replication of best practices in the field of intellectual property will be announced and the agreements on strategic partnership between leading market players will be signed at the forum.

IPQuorum is planned to host the exhibition “Intellectual Property: from Private Privileges to the Global System. Epochs, People, Artifacts”, which will feature advanced technological solutions in the field of IP: interactive expositions and presentations of innovative projects.

IPQuorum 2018 provides a special Startup hub presentation environment for the creators of intellectual property items, business representatives and specialized investors, a configurator of advanced technologies, solutions and ideas, which helps to create the complex multi-component projects in various sectors of the economy.

The forum participants and guests, as well as residents of Kaliningrad and Kaliningrad region will have an extensive cultural program, which will include a series of open lectures “Intellectual Property” and a screening of documentary films on discoveries in the field of culture, science and technology.
